The first step towards repealing or reducing the City's trash and parking fees is to gauge support. If 21K registered San Diego voters volunteer to sign a future petition, we will have the confidence we need to move forward with the repeal efforts.

WHY REPEAL THE TRASH FEE...

Voters approved a 2022 measure based on misleading estimates of $23-29/month, but now face new trash fees of $43.60/month and rising to $55 - the highest in the county. San Diego should contract with private trash haulers like every other city in the county to save the City and taxpayers.

WHY REPEAL THE PARKING
FEES...

The City is using parking fees as a new profit center to generate revenue over and above the nominal cost to maintain parking stalls. Parking fees should only be enough to cover basic maintenance and generate turnover to allow for more public access. The new parking fees make San Diego less affordable.

Hold City Hall Accountable

It's time for San Diego voters to tell City Hall, "No more fees." The City needs to address the $250M deficit through organizational reforms, not on the backs of everyday San Diegans.

You should know...

The form above IS NOT the actual petition, rather it is the first step of gauging public support for a repeal or reduction of the City's trash and parking fees. If enough people express an interest in signing a future petition, an official effort will be launched.

Proposition 218 allows voters to place a referendum on the ballot with approximately 21K signatures of registered voters from the City of San Diego.

It is undetermined at this time whether the initiative would be for an outright repeal or reduction of the trash and/or parking fees.

If voters pass any changes, only voters would be allowed to change the fees in the future.
